Min Gyu Song currently serves as Assistant Conductor of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, where he collaborates closely with Music Director Jaap van Zweden. Internationally recognized as the winner of the prestigious Guido Cantelli Award 2024 in Milano and Novara, he was also honored with both the Orchestra Award and the Management Agencies Jury Award.
Song’s competition successes include the second prize at the 2nd Hiroshima International Conducting Competition in 2024, leading to an upcoming performance with the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra and the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra in the 2025/26 season. Additionally, he received the Orchestra Prize at the Erich Bergel International Conducting Competition in 2022, subsequently leading a televised concert broadcast across Romania.
He has conducted more than 20 distinguished ensembles worldwide, notably the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, WDR Funkhausorchester Köln, Komische Oper Berlin, Bochum Symphony Orchestra, and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. Song’s versatility extends beyond symphonic repertoire, including professional engagements with institutions such as the Korean National Opera Academy.
His growing international reputation continues with forthcoming engagements in Italy and Japan, reinforcing his presence as a rising conductor on the global stage.
Song earned his master’s degree in orchestral conducting under Steven Sloane at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and holds a bachelor's degree from the Detmold University of Music. Further mentorship and musical refinement have come through collaborations in masterclasses with esteemed maestros such as Sir Roger Norrington, Johannes Schlaefli, Markus Stenz, and Osmo Vänskä.
